For centuries, the peoples of Peru have had a tradition of creating utilitarian and decorative objects from dried mate gourds. Daniel Vargas transforms a hollow gourd into a delightful box for personal treasures. He uses pyrographic techniques to create this satisfied owl and colors it with red dyes. He then seals it with candle wax and adds a wood handle.
The natural shape of the gourd dictates size and shape, so each one will be a unique work of art.
